Martin Real Estate, Inc. was established by Harold J. Martin, Jr. in 1968 in Danville, Indiana.  He had been active in the real estate brokerage business in Hendricks County since the early sixties establishing the Harold Martin Agency in Avon in 1965.  Martin Real Estate, Inc. was incorporated to market a land development project called Old Farm Village which was built on two “old farms” on the east edge of Danville.  This was an ambitious project for its time with a shopping center area, multi and single family dwelling neighborhoods as well as several professional buildings.

In 1975 Harold’s son Jeff graduated from the Indiana University School of Business with a degree in Real Estate Administration.  He joined the family real estate, development and residential construction business and early in 1976 became the youngest real estate broker in Hendricks County.  From then through 1989 father and son developed nearly a dozen new sections of Old Farm and built several hundred new homes.

Following Harold’s sudden death in 1990, Jeff stayed on at Old Farm until striking out on his own in 1995 keeping Martin Real Estate and also establishing Jeff Martin Fine Homes.  In the ensuing years he built several custom homes in Danville and the surrounding area, a beach cottage in the Florida panhandle and even a custom barn for a fellow town councilman.

In 2002 Jeff designed and built the CollegeTown Townhouses, an eight unit condominium project near the Danville town square near the site where the Central Normal College once stood.  He also began doing custom additions and whole house renovations establishing a reputation for innovative plans and high quality construction.

In 2006 Jeff’s daughter Emily Martin earned her real estate salesman’s license and after graduating from Indiana University the following year with a degree in Informatics joined him in the real estate and construction business in Danville.  She represents the fourth generation of her family to build and market real estate in their hometown.
